Official Trailer: Minions: The Rise of Gru

Long before he becomes the master of evil, Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carell) is just a 12-year-old boy in 1970s suburbia, plotting to take over the world from his basement. It’s not going particularly well. When Gru crosses paths with the Minions, including Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto—a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please—this unexpected family joins forces. Together, they build their first lair, design their first weapons, and strive to execute their first missions. When the infamous supervillain supergroup, the Vicious 6, oust their leader—legendary martial arts fighter Wild Knuckles (Oscar® winner Alan Arkin)— Gru, their most devoted fanboy, interviews to become their newest member. The Vicious 6 is not impressed by the diminutive, wannabe villain, but then Gru outsmarts (and enrages) them, and he suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. With Gru on the run, the Minions attempt to master the art of kung fu to help save him, and Gru discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends. Featuring more spectacular action than any film in Illumination history and packed with the franchise’s signature subversive humor, Minions: The Rise of Gru stars a thrilling new cast, including, the Vicious 6: Taraji P. Henson as cool and confident leader Belle Bottom, whose chain belt doubles as a lethal disco-ball mace; Jean-Claude Van Damme as the nihilistic Jean Clawed, who’s armed (literally) with a giant robotic claw; Lucy Lawless as Nunchuck, whose traditional nun’s habit hides her deadly nun-chucks; Dolph Lundgren as Swedish roller-skate champion Svengeance, who dispenses his enemies with spin kicks from his spiked skates; and Danny Trejo as Stronghold, whose giant iron hands are both a menace to others and a burden to him. The film also stars Russell Brand as Young Dr. Nefario, an aspiring mad scientist, Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow, an acupuncturist with mad kung fu skills, and Oscar® winner Julie Andrews as Gru’s maddeningly self-absorbed mom.

This is the new DeLorean EV

The DeLorean Motor Company has presented its new electric car a good 40 years after the “original”. The DeLorean EV Alpha5 has little in common with the original, apart from the name. It is a modern electric car that also has a new design.

The DeLorean EV Alpha5 has now been presented as part of an “Early Access” campaign on the DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) website. The company doesn’t want to fully unveil the vehicle until tomorrow, because then there will be another first public presentation. The current company behind the project has nothing to do with the original manufacturer of the DMC-12, made famous by the films of the “Back to the Future” series, apart from the name.

The new DeLorean EV hardly adopts any design elements from its “predecessor”, although some similarities can be discovered in some details. The new vehicle has two huge gullwing doors that give access to the four seats in the interior. There is also a stepped spoiler on the rear part of the roof, which resembles the “cat ladder” of the DMC-12.

The design comes from the company ItalDesign of the designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, which decades ago was also responsible for the design of the “original” DeLoreans. According to the current plans of the newly founded manufacturer, the new model should come with a 100kWh battery and offer a purely electric range of more than 400 kilometers.

The new electric DeLorean Alpha5 will then probably have all-wheel drive and a dual-motor concept, which will allow it to accelerate to 96 km/h in under three seconds and to the famous “88 miles per hour” in just 4.35 seconds . The top speed is given as 250 km/h. The above information apparently only applies to the “Base Performance Model” of the Alpha5, i.e. the basic version. Which further variants are planned and how equipped is currently still open. The new DeLorean EV is scheduled to go into production in the coming years, for which the DeLorean Motor Company is relying on a new plant in the US state of Texas. The price of the new DeLorean will probably be around $175,000.
